VOSA and DVA powers to stop commercial vehicles for inspection at the roadside

To seek views on the Department’s proposal to supplement the existing powers available to examiners from the Department’s Vehicle and Operator Services Agency enabling them to stop commercial vehicles for inspection at the roadside.

Consultation on draft regulations which amend the Motor Fuel Regulations 1999 to implement European Directive 2009/30/EC with respect to Fuel Quality

The documents describe and invite comments on the Government’s proposals to implement EU Directive 2009/30/EC which sets new environmental standards for fuel used in road vehicles, non-road mobile machinery and recreational craft. This would be achieved by an amendment to the Motor Fuel (Composition and Content) Regulations 1999. Note: Re-opening of consultation until 30 September 2010.

Reforming Rail Franchising

This consultation discusses options to ensure that future rail franchises deliver improved services for passengers; better value for taxpayer money and create the right conditions for a sustainable rail industry. We discuss specific options such as granting longer franchise periods; alternative risk arrangements and incentives for private investment.
